The company was established by the three founding members Peter Bierwirth, Klaus Kluth and Peter Puls as well as a fourth silent partner under the name "Bierwirth & Partner Hotel Management Services GmbH" in 1998.
The fields of business included hotel consulting, hotel turnaround management and operations as well as asset management. The young company benefited in particular from the high competence and potential of the experienced partners coming from the international corporate hospitality industry, combined with the excellent specialist knowledge of individual employees.
Particularly in the areas of hotel operations and turnaround management, the company has grown sustainably and has positioned itself strongly in the market. For many years, they represented the two key pillars of the business model. More than 20 distressed hotel properties from various sectors (resorts, conference hotels, leisure hotels, boarding houses) were successfully restructured and repositioned.
Since 2008, the hotel operations division has been further expanded from an interim manager with short-term planning to a developer and hotel operator with long-term lease and management contracts. For example, the 250 room 4**** star Courtyard by Marriott Wien Messe was developed from scratch on - at the time - undeveloped grounds. The 139-room 4**** star Courtyard by Marriott Wiesbaden Nordenstadt was successfully converted from a former Ramada Hotel into a Marriott-branded building. In the meantime, the company has established an outstanding reputation as a competent franchisee and operates a large number of hotels such as Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, Renaissance, Moxy and Holiday Inn. In addition there are also properties within the portfolio that are run under their own brand name in the Serviced Apartments segment.
In 2012, the company was renamed Bierwirth & Kluth Hotel Management GmbH.
